二、抓子句

任何一个子句都要复合五大基本句型中的某种句型，而五大基本句型可以根据谓语动词的特点来判断。

谓语动词是系动词，则是主系表结构。(主语、系动词和表语，缺一不可)；谓语动词是及物动词，则是主谓宾结构。(主语、谓语和宾语，缺一不可)；谓语动词是不及物动词，则是主谓结构。(主语和谓语，缺一不可)；谓语动词是双及物动词，则是主谓双宾结构。(主语、谓语、间接宾语和直接宾语，缺一不可)；谓语动词是复合及物动词，则是主谓宾宾语补足语。(主语、谓语、宾语和宾语补足语，缺一不可)。

三、理关系

理清动作发生的先后顺序，梳理其中的逻辑关系。将英文句子翻译成通顺的中文。

例题：

That sex ratio will be favored which maximizes the number of descendants an individual will have and hence the number of gene copies transmitted.

找谓语

That sex ratio will be favored which maximizes the number of descendants an individual will have and hence the number of gene copies transmitted. 注：copy 不会是动词的第三人称单数，the number of + 复数名词，gene 是单数，只能是 gene copies 连在一起理解为一个名词短语;transmitted 是非谓语动词，如果是谓语动词的话，应该是 is transmitted。

抓子句

主句：That sex ratio will be favored

定语从句：which (the sex ratio) maximizes the number of descendants and hence the number of gene copies transmitted.

定语从句：an individual will have (descendants)

理关系

原因是 which (that sex ratio) maximizes the number of descendants an individual will have and hence the number of gene copies transmitted.

结果是 That sex ratio will be favored 句子翻译：那种性别比例能在最大程度上增加一个个体所能拥有的后代数量，并因此能在最大程度上增加传递到后代身上去的基因复制品的数量。因而那种性别比例将是有利的。
